SkirvFAQ: Skirv's Signature
Why don't you delimit your mail/news signature?
I do delimit my signature, actually - the "-- " (dash dash space) is legit, and is between the body of the article and the URLs in all of my sigs. I do not delimit the "- Tim Skirvin <tskirvin@killfile.org>" bit, because that mirrors the way that I actually write. I've been doing this for my entire online life, and while it's a bit outside of the norm, it's only a bit. And if there's one thing I've earned in my online life, it's a couple of eccentricities.
How many signatures do you have?
I have two main signatures - a work one, and a home one. The work one is consistent, and consists of my name, work email address, title, and a URL. My home one is dynamic, and generally contains my name and email address, a link to my homepage, and a link to one of my other pages, chosen randomly or (if I'm in the mood) specific to what I'm talking about.
I also have several special-purpose signatures - one for the Big-8 Management Board, one for each of the newsgroups I moderate, one for responding to questions about lanyards, etc. These offer specific URLs and occasionally a bit of extra information below my name and email address.
My signature is always added by hand.
