SkirvFAQ: PGP Signatures

I can't read this attachment that you sent me in an email. What should I do with it?

That attachment that you can't read is actually a "PGP signature". It confirms that I actually wrote the email you're reading. I rarely send email without a valid signature. Some mailers will automatically check the signature to verify the message's authenticity; others just show the signature as an attachment that you don't need to worry about. In general, just read the text of the main body of the message and you'll probably be okay.

For more information of PGP signatures, see here. And for an excellent rant on the subject, see here.

(And it's actually a GPG signature. And my key is here.)
