Through the years, I have gotten many, many threats of lawsuits, personal violence, destroying my "good name", and so forth. As these are often some of the most entertaining stories to tell about my life, I have decided to start archiving them as publicly as humanly possible. Whee...

• Forged Cancels
  As author of the Cancel FAQ, I guess I'm morally obligated to have a few of my articles cancelled per week...

• Jules Siegel, May 2003
  Mr. Siegel started threatening me one day because one of the users of news.admin.net-abuse.sightings had reported one of his messages as spam.
• Anonymous Harassment, Mar 2003
  From March 2nd onwards, I have been being harassed anonymously over a Dungeon entry. Here's my logs.
• John Bambenek
  John is a local...well, not kook, just moron. He decided that he didn't want his name associated with my site or the Dungeon. Well, too bad. The threats are encrypted.

  It had been a while since I'd killfiled anyone; once I started again, the threats came right away. This is somehow satisfying. (It's especially satisfying that she called and started making threatening remarks over the phone. She threatened to call Sid. Heh.)
• Ms. Pl-sko
  Ms. Pl-sko was very upset because my uiuc.general FAQ mentioned her, and so she started threatening me, MIT's RTFM archive, and so forth. Various amounts of wrath were called down, whcih were probably about as effective as any wrath that's ever occurred due to my actions. After a couple of rounds of it, including at least one major mistake on my part, I've taken down all specific information about her and don't plan to put it back up. Damn. I lost this one.

  Todd threatened me with a harassment lawsuit if I didn't remove his name from the Dungeon listings. I told him to shove it. We actually compromised eventually, wonder of wonders...
• Archimedes Plutonium
  Well, they aren't really threats, it's more of AP just trying to show that he's cool and that he can make people believe that I've strange. He failed miserably, of course.
• John Grubor
  John Grubor's been on my nerves for a while, and probably always will be; this particular message was sent to postmaster@uiuc.edu (et al), because I was complaining about his continuing forged approvals in news.admin.net-abuse.policy...
• Steve Boursy
  Steve Boursy and John Grubor work together, so I wasn't overly surprised when I got this piece of mail.
• Scott Weiser
  Weiser was plonked mostly out of necessity, not disgust; still, when he found out about his page, he threw a bit at the Daemons. This is his actual lawsuit threat against them. I'll hold it in trust for them...
• Ted Holden
  Ted is an old-time troll that appears in the net.legends FAQ. Since I'm currently the only one that distributes the FAQ, I was subject to a few attempted intimidations. As usual, he lost.
• ThomasW540
  ThomasW540, or zpulse@erols.com, has tried to submit lots of articles to humanities.philosophy.objectivism lately - all of them crossposted (and thus unpostable) and most of them Cc:'d to president@whitehouse.gov (etc). When I told him that his posts weren't getting through, he started mailing this to everyone he could find from the Math Department.

  I never did figure out what exactly I was being threatened for, but...oh well. I never did actually get that meeting scheduled, either, mostly because the contact information he gave me was wrong. Silly security!

  Lawsuit threats from a reasonably major ISP. Aaahh...
• Somebody Else
  A year or so ago (2001), I began to get reports that somebody's ticked off about something on killfile.org. I have no idea what this something was, who it was, or why they wouldn't just contact me; all I know was that somebody claiming to be a lawyer was calling around looking for me, asking for "Tim", and getting confused when I'm not there. So far they've contacted at least my Mother, Enteract, and Dannyman's Mom...

  I may post the evidence someday; until that time, suffice to say that, for posting their Secret Scriptures, I got a whole pile of lawsuit threats. For now, here's at least one short recounting of the story.
